Changes to the 2025 Atlantic Sires Stakes Schedule

Atlantic Sires Stakes Schedule Changes 2025

The Atlantic Standardbred Breeders Association would like to inform participants of changes to the Atlantic Sires Stakes schedule for two and three year old pacing colt and filly divisions. Due to decreased funding from the Nova Scotia Harness Racing Industry Association a leg for the two and three year old pacing colts and fillies will be removed from the schedule this racing season at Nova Scotia tracks.   This has required the ASBA to reduce the stake from five legs to four legs for all pacing colt and filly divisions and will result in only two legs being raced in Nova Scotia instead of three legs as in previous years.

The decrease in funding was communicated after the ASBA Annual General Meeting and regrettably after exhausting all avenues to keep the third leg in Nova Scotia, the difficult decision was made to eliminate it for this stake season.

Moving forward ASBA will continue discussions with the NSHRIA and look at opportunities for next years stake season. Our priority is to keep the integrity of the stake and make decisions based on the best interest of our breeders, stallion owners, participants and members of the Atlantic Sire Stakes program.

The legs that will be eliminated from the schedule are as follows:

July 4                  Truro Raceway                            2 year old pacing fillies

Sept 20              Northside Downs                        3 year old pacing colts and fillies

Sept 28              Inverness Raceway                     2 year old pacing colts

Updates will be posted on Standardbred Canada News Feed as well as the Atlantic Sires Stakes website and Social media outlets.
