Consolation Pacers Battle At Red Shores

CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – The Atlantic Breeder’s Crown consolation races took centre stage Saturday afternoon and Dustylanekazaam scored a convincing upset in his class at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

Corey MacPherson engineered the winning steer in the $5,000 three-year-old pacing colt consolation of the Atlantic Sires Stakes season in 1:57.1 at 11-1 odds. Paul MacDonald trains Dustylanekazaam for owner Jonathan MacDonald of North Wiltshire, P.E.I. Easy Flyer (Driven by Gilles Barrieau) was second while Thegreatmaelstrom (Ken Murphy) completed the $896.30 triactor.

Driver Barrieau had three wins on the Saturday program including the $5,000 two-year-old pacing colt Atlantic Breeder’s Crown consolation with Purple Poet in 1:58.3 over Fern Hill Dynamic (Mark Bradley) and J Ks Boy (Marc Campbell). Robert Phillips trains Purple Poet for Kevin Harvey of Hammonds Plains, N.S.

Barrieau also scored with A Grand Terror from his own stable in 1:58.2 and Prince Adam in 1:57.1 for trainer Lewis MacDonell of Port Hood, N.S.

Miss Dynamite D captured the two-year-old pacing filly consolation in 2:00.1 with Redmond Doucet in the bike for owners Colin William and Maria MacLeod of Southwest Margaree, N.S. Second went to Cheeky Cherry (Clare MacDonald) while Woodmere Oleksiak (David Dowling) was third.

The $5,000 three-year-old pacing filly consolation was won by Silverhill Misty and trainer-driver Jason Hughes off a pocket ride in 1:57.4 over Cherry Pop (Darren Crowe) and Windemereimalright (Adam Merner). Kurt Hughes of Stratford, P.E.I., holds the ownership papers of Silverhill Misty.
