Atlantic Sires Stakes Fillies Impress at Inverness

The Atlantic Sires Stakes three-year-old pacing fillies put on an impressive show at Inverness Raceway on Sunday afternoon, with one filly taking new lifetime mark.
 
West River Ambyr crossed the finish line in 1:58.2, earning a new lifetime mark for owner-driver-trainer Clare MacDonald of Antigonish, NS and co-owner Haley MacDonald.  Pownal Bay Style and driver Mark Bradley took second place honours and Howmacfiesty and Danny Romo came home third.
 
Meanwhile All About Madi and driver Walter Cheverie won their ‘A’ division event in 1:59.3.  The ownership papers on the filly are held by Leith Waite, Summerside, PE and Leslie and Spencer Waite of Charlottetown, PE.  Southfield Sassy and Terry Gallant placed second and Maudail Mac and driver Clare MacDonald were third.
 
Glory Jean, under the command of Mark Bradley, won the third Atlantic Sires Stakes event on the afternoon race card in 1:59.4 for owner Blair Hansen of Charlottetown, PE.  Howmacscanasta and Gilles Barrieau crossed the finish line second and Proven To Be Bad and Redmond Doucet were third.
 
Points earned in each Atlantic Sires Stakes ‘A’ division event go towards earning a spot in the season-ending Atlantic Breeders Crown Championships. Current point totals can be viewed under ‘Standings’.
