Meridian Farms to Sponsor Atlantic Sires Stakes Trotting Divisions

The Atlantic Sires Stakes 2014 race season is quickly approaching, as two and three-year-old colts and fillies prepare to meet for competition at race tracks across the Maritimes.

As plans for the new season develop, the Atlantic Standardbred Breeders Association is pleased to announce an exciting partnership with Meridian Farms, Atlantic Canada’s largest Standardbred breeding
operation.

Beginning with the 2014 race season, Meridian Farms will be a major sponsor of the Atlantic Sires Stakes trotting divisions.  The multi-year sponsorship will see Meridian Farms contribute towards the purse pool funds for all two and three-year-old trotting divisions, as well as the season-ending Atlantic
Breeders Crown two and three-year-old trotting events.

Meridian Farms has also donated permanent and keepsake trophies for winners of the Atlantic Breeders Crown three-year-old and two-year-old trotting events. These trophies will honour the memory of long time Atlantic Canada Standardbred breeders Erwin Andrew and Louis McIsaac.

The Atlantic Sires Stakes program has been promoting the sport of harness racing for over forty-five years, while showcasing the best young horses in the region. The Atlantic Sires Stakes season culminates with the Atlantic Breeders Crown championships each year.  The 2014 Atlantic Breeders Crown will take place at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino on Prince Edward Island, October 11th and 12th.
