Jann Down and Miss Oromocto Victorious in Atlantic Sires Stakes

Jann Down was victorious in her Atlantic Sires Stakes ‘A’ division event at Inverness Raceway on Sunday afternoon.  The three-year-old pacing filly, under the command of Gilles Barrieau, crossed the finish line in 1:58.3 for the Downey Stables of Quispamsis, NB.  Coming home second was Invader M and Clare MacDonald and third was Three Pink Bows and Danny Romo.  

Miss Oromocto and Mark Haig captured the other $9580 ‘A’ division event in 1:58.2.  The ownership papers on the bay pacing filly are held by Mel Land of Hopewell Cape, NB and Sharon Burchill of Oromocto, NB.  Woodmere Articblue and Danny Romo placed second and Thebigbamtheory and Ernie Laffin were third.  

The lone $2500 ‘B’ division event went to Mirages Paradise and driver John Gerard Kennedy for owner-trainer Irwin Claener of New Waterford, NS.  

Atlantic Sires Stakes racing action returns to Inverness Raceway next Sunday when the two-year-old pacing colts and fillies both meet for competition.
