Atlantic Sires Stakes Race Date Postponed in New Brunswick

The Atlantic Standardbred Breeders Association (ASBA) and Horse Racing New Brunswick (HRNB) have announced the postponement of the Atlantic Sires Stakes 3 year-old pacing fillies event which was slated for Fredericton Raceway on May 20th.  The event has been tentatively re-scheduled to July 1st at Fredericton Raceway and would correspond with the Atlantic Sires Stakes 3 year-old pacing colts event which is currently scheduled for that day in Fredericton.

The postponement of the event is due to insufficient funding from Horse Racing New Brunswick for the 2013 Atlantic Sires Stakes race season in that province.  Each of the three participating provinces – Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick – provide core funding for the Atlantic Sires Stakes program.  This core funding goes towards purse enhancement for Atlantic Sires Stakes events in each individual province and without this funding the ASBA is unable to hold its events.

Horse Racing New Brunswick and the ASBA are working diligently to ensure New Brunswick race tracks are able to participate in the 2013 race season.

Additional information regarding the remainder of the 2013 race season in New Brunswick will be communicated as soon as it becomes available and updates will be posted on this website.
