Atlantic Sires Stakes Colts Take Over Truro Raceway

July 24, 2016

Truro Raceway played host to a handful of events for Atlantic Sires Stakes three-year-old pacing colts and geldings on Saturday evening.

Magical Cowboy and driver Corey MacPherson won the first of three ‘A’ division events in a time of 1:58.1.  This was the second straight Atlantic Sires Stakes win for the three-year old gelding owned by Barry Martin, Sydney, NS, and Stephen Gass, Cornwall, PEI.

Corey MacPherson captured another win with Dusty Lane Arby in 1:57.1 in their $7020 ‘A’ division event.  The ownership papers on the gelding are held by Dale and Ronnie Rennie of Elmsdale, PE and Shelley Gass of Cornwall, PE.

The final ‘A’ division event on the evening card went to Offshore Cowboy and reinsman Jason Hughes in 1:57.1  for owner Kent Williams, Ellerslie, PE and Lyndon Hardy, Coleman, PE.  This win was also the second back to back win for the gelding and it resulted in a clean sweep of the ‘A’ division events by offspring of  the sire Brandons Cowboy.

Two ‘B’ division events rounded out the race card, with Cam Crazy and Mark Bradley winning their $2500 event for owners Paul Walker, Vernon Bridge PE and Tanya Routledge, Charlottetown, PE.

The other ‘B’ event went to A Bs Future under the command of Clare MacDonald for GG and Mac Stables of Port Hood, NS.

Points earned in each Atlantic Sires Stakes ‘A’ division pace event and all trot events go towards securing a spot in the season-ending Atlantic Breeders Crown Championships. This year’s weekend of champions will be hosted by Red Shores Charlottetown Raceway on Thanksgiving Weekend.
