After a full slate of Atlantic Sires Stakes racing during Governor’s Plate Week at Red Shores Summerside Raceway, the three-year-old pacing colts finally had a chance to show what they’re made of during the Friday evening race card.

Proven Desire and Marc Campbell crossed the finish line first in their $13,220 ‘A’ division event clocking an impressive time of 1:55.4 for owners Blair Hansen and Meghan MacDonald of Charlottetown, PE and John Thomas of Dartmouth, NS.  Second place honours went to Ultimatelyhandsome and Todd Trites and third place was secured by Pictonian Edge and Gilles Barrieau.

Dixieland Band captured his ‘A’ division event in 1:57.2  under the command of Gilles Barrieau.  The three-year-old bay gelding is owned by Reginald MacPherson and David MacKenzie of Stratford, PE and Aaron MacKenzie of Winsloe, PE.  BNGs Express came home second with Danny Romo and third was Goodmorningmister and Corey MacPherson.

Three $2500 ‘B’ division events rounded out the card with Textually Active and Gilles Barrieau taking their division.  Meanwhile, R Es Aiden and driver Rodney Gillis came home first in their event and Jigtime Arti and driver Clare MacDonald won the final ‘ B’ division event.

Atlantic Sires Stakes racing action resumes next week when Atlantic Grand Circuit Week gets underway at Truro Raceway.  The two-year-old pacing fillies, as well as the two and three-year-old trotters, will meet for action on Tuesday evening.  First race post time is 7 pm.
