Atlantic Breeders Crown Fan Seminar to celebrate Gold Cup and Saucer

Charlottetown, PE – The always popular Fan Forum which this year will be held Sunday, October 12 at 10:30 a.m. at Red Shores at Charlottetown Driving Park will celebrate the Gold Cup and Saucer. Titled “Winning the
Dream”, Gold Cup and Saucer winners will answer fan questions about their experiences in winning the Greatest Show in Harness Racing.

Panelists will include:

Les Waite, who drove Dr. Walter C to victory in the 1973 Gold Cup, the last Prince Edward Island  bred winner of the event. Les is also one of the youngest drivers to ever win the Gold Cup and Saucer Billy Companion, the trainer of Scarlet and Gold, the 2001 winner, who was driven by Wally Hennessey.

Emmons MacKay, who trained and drove Maritime Bred Kilkerran Ingle to victory lane in 1992. Ingle was also a dominate horse in his local stakes campaign.

Earl Smith, who won with Pownal Bay Matt in what has been recognized as one of the greatest Gold Cup and Saucers in history. Pownal Bay Matt was owned by Ian Smith of Charlottetown.

Rene Allard, the co-owner and trainer of Big Town Hero, the 2014 Gold Cup and Saucer winner.  Big Town Hero is also the CDP track record co-holder.

Don Smith, who along with his brother Ian owned two time Gold Cup and Saucer winner Sauls Pride.

The Fan Forum will be held immediately after the complimentary Pancake Breakfast at Turf’s Bar & Grill sponsored by David Corrigan, Coldwell Banker Parker Realty, Dr. Kathleen MacMillan Atlantic Veterinary College and Cavendish Farms. The breakfast starts at 9:00 a.m.
