Atlantic Sires Stakes Two-Year-Old Pacers Invade Saint John Raceway
Atlantic Sires Stakes two-year-old pacing fillies and colts dominated the race card at Exhibition Park Raceway in Saint John, NB, Tuesday afternoon.
Honey Do Jigtime and driver Clare MacDonald won the first $6900 “A” division event for two-year-old pacing fillies in a time of 2:00 for owners Morah Kerr of Greenfield, NS, and Phonsie MacEachern of Port Hood, NS. Coming home second was Yankee Dancer and third was Force of Fire.
The second “A” division event for pacing fillies went to Forceful Putnam and driver Mark Haig in a time of 1:59.3 for owners Mel Land, Hopewell Cape, NB, and Sandra Foley, Fredericton, NB. Second place honours went to Bemused and the third place finisher was Woodmere Gorgeous.
The final “A” division event for fillies saw Acton Normal cross the finish line first with driver Shane Bernard in the bike in a time of 1:58 for owner Tom Weatherbie, Charlottetown, PEI. Second place went to Moon Landing and finishing third was Ultimate Spirit.
The two-year-old pacing colts also had an impressive showing on the afternoon card of racing. Howdidchado and driver Mark Bradley won the first $8180 event in a time of 1:59.2 for owner Terry Gallant, Summerside, PEI, and Ashley Gamester, Hunter River, PEI. Second place went to D J Supreme and third to Royal Putnam.
The second “A” event for colts saw The Streak make his way to the winner’s circle with driver Gilles Barrieau for the Eights Enough Stable of Saint John, NB in a time of 1:59.2. The second and third place finishers were Aarons Ambition and Homersboybart.
The final “A” division event for colts was captured by Putnams Power and Danny Romo in a time of 1:58.3 for owners Ronald Seymour and Bruce Donovan of Glace Bay, NS. Finishing second was New School and third was The Eagle.
Atlantic Sires Stakes racing action continues in Saint John on Saturday when the three-year-old pacing colts meet for competition.
